What is a Crafty You retreat?

Our retreats are time to get away with friends old and new to craft, share ideas, learn new techniques and have a great time doing it!

In between classes guests relax in the Craft Room creating and having fun. There’s snacks, door prizes, raffles, and even a pajama party on Saturday night!

Isn’t that like a crop, aren’t those just scrapbooking? Nope, people have worked on cards, vinyl projects, iron-ons with our heat press, 3D designs, and yes scrapbooking too. It’s your time and the crafts are up to YOU. Our classes have covered a range of topics and techniques; paper-crafting, multi-media, painting, designing with Inkscape on the computer, coloring techniques, and more!

On top of all that, you also have access to your hosts throughout the retreat for questions and advice.

Additional Session for Spring are still in development so check back often!

Below are the courses we have planned for this event. Click below for details.

All classes are included with the Full Event Ticket, there are no extra charges.

Generally we will provide the majority of materials needed to participate in the class. The class descriptions will have a Bring heading if anything else is required for you to bring. We may also include a Suggestions heading on additional supplies or items to bring to enhance your experience.

We will introduce you to the watercolor stamps and technique offered by Art Impressions for creating wonderful images with their stamps that you transform in to watercolor works of art!

This class introduces you to the products, recommended materials and supplies, and starts you working with the watercolor technique and then making your first scene.

We are renting class kits from Art Impressions for your use this weekend. You won’t need anything extra to participate in the classes and create your own scenes. See the Note heading below for details on what is included in the kits. The kit may be used by guests throughout the weekend to create and explore with not just during class, but the kit must be returned at the end of the event.

  • With this class our suggestion is to not bring anything else! You’ll want to focus just on learning the techniques with the class kit.

In this class you will build on the basics and get tips for layout and composition as well and techniques for layering and building your scenes. We will complete three more scenes during this class.

  • You can bring other papers and water based markers or stamp pads you might want to try out. Please make sure they are water based and not a permanent color.

We are renting class kits from Art Impressions for your use this weekend. These kits include:

  • 15 Art Impressions Watercolor Stamps
  • 7 Marvy Le Plume II Watercolor Markers
  • 1 No. 4 Brush
  • Watercolor Palette
  • 3 Acrylic Blocks

The kit may be used by guests throughout the weekend to create and explore with not just during class, but the kit must be returned at the end of the event.

At Creativation this year we enjoyed a demonstration of the lovely simplicity of the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. Crafter’s Companion has generously given pens for our guests to experience the technique for themselves! You will be surprised at the range of color and dimension you will be able to get with just one color and one clear overlay.

You will be able to add sparkle to your cards and artwork as a central embellishment or an exciting background inexpensively.

  • An Acrylic block or palette for blending or sharing colors.

  • We will have sample images to learn with and have fun playing. You’re welcome to bring any stamped or printed images with large areas for coloring that would stand out with a pastel watercolor technique or some sparkle. Make sure you are using a paper and a stamp ink or a laser print that you know will hold up to working with watercolors.

Stationary Gift Set Box

Our very own Kimberly Rich-Walker will lead a workshop on putting together an adorable Stationary Gift Set Box designed to hold A2 cards and envelopes.

We will be making the box itself, the base and panels will be provided. The project doesn’t include cards and accessories.

  • Scissors or snips to cut the double-sided tape we provide.
  • Bone folder to get crisp folds in your construction.

  • If you want to customize the look of your box with your own panels instead of the ones we provide, you will need three 12″ x 12″ sheets of paper. If you want one design for the lid panels and another for the box panels you will need one sheet for the lid and two sheets of the same design for the box.
  • Any embellishments you might be inspired to add like ribbons, bows, or bling!

“I found stamping like many other stampers out there. I went to my first stamping party and I was immediately hooked. Shortly after, I signed up as a demonstrator to “get the discount.” That turned into a full time business for me. I had a pretty big downline, earned several cruises and did lots of workshops. I loved the teaching aspects of the business. When the company I demonstrated for changed their career plan, I decided to change mine and Gina K. Designs was born.”

“The Hungry JPEG was started in November 2014 as a website to help designers, crafters, newbies, seasoned graphic design ninjas and well, anybody with an interest in the design world. The aim was to provide high quality design resources for an affordable price and even throw in some freebies!

As the freebies and bundles grew so did the demand for a permanent shop. You asked and we listened! The shop launched in July 2015 and is growing daily! Not only can you now buy whatever you like whenever you like (hand drawn social icons anyone? Or maybe a gorgeous new script font?) but you can still find amazing deals in our premium bundles.

Having built up an incredible reputation for quality, care and customer service we promise to continue to put you, the customer, first.”

“I am Michelle Currie, owner and illustrator for Pink and Main. I have loved all kinds of arts and crafts since my mom taught me to cross-stitch in the third grade. I fell in love with scrapbooking in 1996 and stamping in 1999, and have been hooked since. From early on I knew I wanted to turn my hobby into my career, and I have done a variety of things in the paper crafting industry.

I have been designing digital cutting files for the past few years and decided to bring some of my designs to the stamping world. I love illustrating images that bring a smile to you as you create with them.”
